ART GALLERY MANAGER
Class III, Step 1 - $13.00/hr
Up to 25 Hours per week
-This is a student position-
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Expand and update call – for – entry mailing list to ensure that exhibits represent the interests, values and experiences of the diverse campus community.
- Work in coordination with the ROMC Program Manager to support and enhance programming that draws vital connections between shared human experiences and common solutions.
- Act as a jury coordinator for the selection of works for future exhibitions.
- Work with gallery manager on the final selection of works for future exhibits.
- Communicate and schedule appointments with exhibiting artist.
- Hire train and supervise gallery staff, interns and volunteers in gallery operations, exhibitions and provide gallery reception during regular business hours.
- Act as an installation coordinator for the set – up and hanging exhibitions.
- Monitor and keep track of supplies and the supply budget.
- Work at least three Saturdays for installations and at least three Thursdays for receptions.
- Attend bi – weekly meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- One year of supervisory experience to include: interviewing, performance management, and discipline.
- Knowledge of human resources management
- Strong knowledge of office management
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information
- Ability to solve problems
- Ability to take initiative
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- At least one year of museum/gallery experience or the equivalent.
- Previous museum/gallery curatorial experience and / or exhibit research/ installation background.
- Willingness to learn and grow beyond one’s current state of cross-cultural awareness.
- Ability to work within a multi-lingual environment that is ethnically and culturally diverse, and that emphasizes the knowledge and values related to cross cultural communication and relations.
- Detail and team oriented
- Art History, Studio, IAC or Museum Studies major preferred.

- Very effective organization
- Strong computer competency (preferably Macintosh) to include spreadsheet, word processing programs, writing memos, organizing meetings, and filling.
