PUBLICITY MANAGER
Class III, Step 1 - $12.70/hr
20 hours per week
-This is a student position-

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Plans and oversees daily operation and projects of the publicity department; provide publicity and PR for all Student Center services and programs
  • Acts as liaison for publicity department with Student Center staff, SF State community and external vendors
  • Supervises and motivates graphic designers and copywriter in publicity department; recruits and trains staff when needed
  • Works with publicity staff to produce a wide variety of publicity and marketing print materials such as brochures, flyers, posters, ads and press releases
  • Monitors and maintains updated content for the Web site
  • Copy edits all work before sent to printers and web
  • Responsible for monitoring distribution of publicity throughout campus
  • Maintains all supplies and publicity files/archives, responsible for equipment and software
  • Compiles and implements annual budget in coordination with assistant director of program services
  • Must attend Student Center Governing Board Community Relations meetings

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent command of the English language; must be familiar with AP Style
  • Must be dependable (available Monday – Friday) and possess excellent time management skills
  • Must be familiar with marketing concepts
  • Must be Mac proficient; Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Operational knowledge of Student Center activities and facilities helpful
  • Must be an experienced leader and able to establish great working relationships with staff and SF State community
  • Knowledge in design programs, such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign a plus
  • HTML and Dreamweaver knowledge a plus
  • Marketing, Journalism students are encouraged to apply
  • Must be enrolled at SF State with a minimum of 6 units
