REFERENDUM ELECTION SUPERVISOR
Salary- $15.00/hour
Varied hours 5 to 30 average 15 per week, Mon-Fri
Term of Employment- July 6-October 30 2009
-This is a temporary position-
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction of the ASI Leadership Development Coordinator, the Referendum Supervisor coordinates the Student Fee Advisory Committee’s call for a student body referendum campaign, which includes but is not limited to preparing the referendum documents and material, meeting the timeline mandated by the referendum policy, publicity, training and supervision of poll workers, set-up and oversight of the polling locations, monitoring the voting for access and fairness.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Prepares student referendum notice and voter pamphlet in accordance with the referendum election schedule and policy.
-Ensures all materials distributed are informatively neutral and balanced and have been checked for accuracy.
-Implements and enforces the referendum in accordance E.O. 1040, the SF state referendum policy and SF state auxiliary fair voting practices.
-Coordinates with Associate Director for Academic Technology to secure polling computers.
-Coordinates with Department of public safety to ensure the daily security of the computers and ballot boxes during the referendum.
-Coordinates with University Registrar for release of campus wide email notice.
-Responsible for tent rental, delivery and coordinates with the Director of Campus Grounds for setup of polling locations.
-Publicizes the referendum, which includes collaboration with the referendum marketing committee, notification of the referendum and publication of the voter pamphlet in the campus newspaper, and posting flyers.
-Works with the Student Center Human Resources Manager to hire polling staff for the assistance in the setup, operation and organization of the polling stations.
-Trains, instructs, guides, schedules and Oversees poll workers.
-Oversees the operation the polling stations during voting days.
-Announces referendum results.
-Responsible for other referendum tasks as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Organizational skills.
-Preferred: Familiarity with the Associated Students, Student Center, Campus Recreation and the campus community and department.
-Desirable: Experience in conducting a voting process at university, city or state level.
