Who We Are

The Sustainable Initiatives program of the Cesar Chavez Student Center focuses on increasing sustainability within the building and throughout SF State. Our team works towards promoting zero waste, educating students on various social justice and environmental issues, hosting informative environmental events/ workshops, and providing sustainability resources for students on campus. Our mission is to make sustainability easy, accessible, and fun!

Vegan & Vegetarian Menus

The Sustainable Initiatives program has created menus that show only vegan or vegetarian items offered by the Cesar Chavez vendors. Click on your preference below:

Current Projects

  • Zero Waste
We are constantly working towards the goal of Zero Waste by 2020. Check out our integrated waste diversion efforts throughout the building, and look for our bin monitor volunteers who will help you sort your waste!
  • Vendor Grading System
We are currently working on a Sustainable Grading system for all CCSC vendors. This will help students make healthy, informed decisions and also help showcase some of the great sustainability efforts already incorporated by the vendors. Stay tuned for updates on this project.
  • Bike Fix-it Workshops
We are collaborating with The Green Initiative Fund to provide free bike maintenance and bike workshops in the quad. Keep updated on this project by checking in on our Facebook
