The ART GALLERY is a student-run and student-funded program of the Cesar Chavez Student Center. The gallery is dedicated to bringing the visual and interdisciplinary arts to the multicultural student body at San Francisco State University through a diverse series of exhibitions of both student and non-student work.

Imperfect Machines

Imperfect Machines is an exhibition showcasing new and challenging artwork by Eilish Cullen, Taryn McCabe and Jeff Ray, graduate students in the Conceptual and Information Arts (CIA) Program at San Francisco State.

In accordance with the innovative spirit of the CIA program, the pieces presented consistently push the boundaries of conventional art and art forms through the use of unorthodox media. These works investigate the relationship between artist, nature and technology.

Eilish Cullen’s installation presents an audio/visual testimony of encounters between human traces and landscape, reflecting on the enigmatic quality of everyday life.

In Taryn McCabe’s garden-sculptures, the garden becomes a place where human craft and nature meet evoking feelings of belonging and intimacy.

Through his artistically remodeled sauna, Jeff Ray creates a place of safety and relaxation: a handily crafted utopia that relates all human senses to nature through warmth and audiovisual effects.
