In Her Shoes: An Interview with Dr. Pat Whitely I had the privilege and honor of interviewing Dr. Pat Whitely, Vice President of Student Affairs.
Dr. Whitely has worked at the University of Miami for 31 years; she has been the Vice President of Student Affairs for 16 years and has previously worked in the residential colleges with the housing department.
In addition to being the Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. Whitely sits on numerous boards in the community and has received many honors due to her tireless work to help the students, one of her achievements being an induction to Iron Arrow, which is considered the highest honor at the University of Miami. Despite her position and her many accolades, she is incredibly humble and loves to serve others.
She is very visible on campus, and it is not uncommon to see her walking to her office, various meetings, or to see her going to various student events to show her support.
Dr. Whitely is from Port Washington, N.Y. she comes from an Irish Catholic family and is the oldest of seven children. She has worked all of her life; she began working at the age of 15 at a Baskin Robins Ice Cream Shop.
